How to Connect Your Sales Pipeline to Claude and ChatGPT Using MCP
Connecting your sales pipeline to Claude or ChatGPT via Model Context Protocol (MCP) gives the AI assistant a permissioned view of your live deals, contacts and next actions, without copy-pasting or losing context. Elori provides a native MCP server for compatible Claude custom connectors and ChatGPT developer-mode MCP. Existing permissions, approvals and campaign caps continue to apply.
What is Model Context Protocol (MCP)?
MCP is an open standard that lets AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT call external tools and data sources in a structured, permissioned way. Instead of pasting CRM screenshots or exporting CSVs, the assistant can query your sales context during a conversation.
Read the official MCP introduction for the protocol itself, or use the Elori MCP launch kit for connection instructions and the server endpoint.
Prerequisites
- An Elori account on the Director or Autopilot plan. MCP is not included with Assistant.
- A compatible Claude plan that supports custom connectors, or ChatGPT with developer-mode MCP enabled.
- Browser access for the secure OAuth flow.
Step 1: Locate your Elori MCP server URL
- Sign in to Elori.
- Go to Settings → MCP connections.
- Copy the configured server URL shown on the page.
This is the secure endpoint your AI client will use. You can also find the endpoint in the MCP launch kit.
Step 2: Add the connector in Claude
- In Claude, open Customize → Connectors, or Organization settings → Connectors for team plans.
- Choose Add custom connector, or the equivalent remote MCP option.
- Give the connector a clear name, such as Elori Sales.
- Paste the Elori MCP server URL.
- Continue and complete the authentication settings if prompted.
Client menus and availability can change. Consult Claude's remote MCP connector instructions if your screen differs.
Step 3: Add the connector in ChatGPT
- Enable Developer mode under Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings, where available on your plan.
- Create a new MCP connection and paste the same Elori server URL.
- Keep OAuth as the authentication method.
Check OpenAI's developer-mode documentation for current availability and setup.
Step 4: Authorize via browser OAuth
When prompted, Elori opens a secure browser OAuth flow.
- Review the account and the exact permissions requested.
- Approve only the access you intend to grant.
- Never paste passwords into the chat itself.
MCP is a connection protocol, not extra authority. All existing Elori permissions, mandatory approvals and campaign caps remain enforced.
Step 5: Keep control
You can review or revoke the connection at any time from Settings → MCP connections. The AI assistant only has access allowed by your current permissions.
What you can ask once connected
- “Show me deals that need attention this week.”
- “What's the health score and next action on the Acme opportunity?”
- “Summarize the recent activity on this contact before I jump on the call.”
Because the context lives in one connected workspace, the assistant starts from your real pipeline instead of a blank slate.
